Years ago, this very place was prey to the monstrous Ultima WEAPON, who attacked Cloud Strife and his party at the time. Due to a large scar upon the land, the residents of Mideel were forced to alter their living arrangements, however it has not affected anything, the residents are still as cheery as ever.
