With the stealth of an eastern python, out came what seemed like a single man, dual swords being wielded with such grace. Maxima could tell whoever was holding those swords, was good. Even though their body was still in midair, key points in how their body was positioned told Maxima what he wanted to know. Whoever it was, was to be treated like a serious threat. With not a single instant being wasted, the form of this man seemed to drop down, as if being pushed by some other force, colliding the blade of one of the swords into the ascended arm of Larin Shulta. An excellent block. Immediately, Maxima had gathered that Larin was wearing some excellent armor of some sort, he didn't care too much to put any further thought into it, though. After all, there was now a battle to be won, and win it he would.
Larin what shot back, his feet sliding against the soft soil and grass below him. Following up with another attack, the man descended both his swords, smashing against both the arms of Larin, who had made yet another fantastic block. With a closer look, Maxima foudn something out. This man was not a man at all, but a cyborg of some sort. Looked like a man, but with obvious features that told otherwise. Without being able to ponder more, another robotic man came shooting from the lake's bosom, simultaneously shooting, or throwing, what seemed like ninja stars. In that process, two of the four men he set out with were dead, a large piece of shrapnel within their chests. Guess they weren't ninja stars...yeesh. Maxima shook his head, now angered at the fact that these strange robots had attacked them, and what made him even more angrier was the question why.
It was obvious to Maxima now, Larin was having troubles with the raw power and superior energy level of the robot, so with but a single motion of his arm he would be the one with the counter. An aura enveloped his arm in mere seconds, and within another couple of seconds the aura had formed into a ball of energy, now vastly growing within the grasp of his single hand. With a look of determination, Maxima released the ball and fired it directly at the robot, who had been pushing it's weight around for the past few minutes. Intercepting the Power Ball would be the second robot, slicing it in two while twisting itself through the air like an enraged tornado. The two halves of the Power Ball separated and seemed to shoot to the side, colliding against some trees and causing them to inevitably fall. Maxima was quite impressed, he didn't exactly put that much torque into that blast, but it was definately enough to stop a couple of robots, at least he thought so. He didn't underestimate these things in the first place, and even wwith that attack he didn't, but that stunt told Maxima yet another thing, Don't mess up like that again!
The second robot, wielding dual battle axes, continued to barrel roll through the air. There was obviously some sort of mechanism that allowed him to do this and stay upon the wind for such a long time, for the movements, even for a robot, were unreal. Unseen in even the Shin-Ra models, even their most advanced ones. Continuing it's rampage, the robot made it's way toward Maxima, increasing it's speed as it approached. Maxima merely grinned as he readied his stance, ready for an evasion... than a brilliant counter attack that would surely tell these things who is boss. Reaching Maxima, the robot deployed what appeared to be long spikes from his ribcage area, so as he spun, these spikes protruded and shot out of him, them too spinning at an intense speed, even faster than the robot itself. Maxima was suprised at this, for they were deployed mere seconds before the robot had came in contact with him. This clever stunt supplied the robot the diversion it needed, for Maxima's attention was quickly drawn to that of thw two individual spikes, that seemed to go in a circular motion around Maxima, in an attempt to flank him. However that was the least of his worries at this moment, for the robot had finally reached him....
With a loud thud the robot quite litterally halted it's very movements within mid air, and it rotated it;s hips, transferring all that gained momentum into his legs, and then into the kick... that smashed against Maxima's body like a semi to a buick. Being hurled through the air, Maxima felt the pain that he thought he'd never feel again. It was the pain.... that was actually painful. UGH!! What a kick! Maxima exhaled heavily, obviously being winded a great deal. While hurling through the air though, he turned his body and pushed off from the family of trees he would have otherwise smashed into, and began his return to the robot. Unknown by the robot, Maxima was one of the world's best acrobatics, and things like this were his forte. With fist ready and with him already reaching the robot, Maxima delivered a solid attack of his own, connecting with a haymaker from hell. The robot, too, was thrown a good distance, only unlike Maxima, it did smash into something, and it wasn't trees either. Where he would collide would be the resting place of sharp boulders and strong, dead, tree roots. The robot practically bounced off them like it would a trampoline.
Meanwhile, the two remaining SOLDIERs took fire on the other robot, aiding Larin in his struggle against the insanely strong cyborg. The robot was wactually affected by these bullets, for they were custom bullets made solely for SOLDIER members. So having them ruin it for the robot, it simply jumped back a few feet and regained its composure and stance, it's dual swords now being held in an X in front of it. Than something strange happened, it spoke. "We Seek Rufus Shinra, We Seek Rufus Shinra. Remove Yourself From Our Path And You Will Be Spared. We Seek Rufus Shinra, We Seek Rufus Shinra!"" Maxima couldn't help but hear this, for the robot's soundwaves were extremely loud, and screechy. Not to mention the fact that it just said it was searching for his boss.
Turning away from the other robot, Maxima laid his gaze upon the other one. What the hell? What does that thing want with Rufus...? That's-- the robot speared Maxima and the two commenced in flopping down a hill, both of them regaining themself quickly only to be shut down by the other's attack. Just why were these robots seeking Rufus Shinra? He was the very leader of nearly the entire world's electronic collection. But something about these robotic organisms was different, everything about them was just so.... different.

How many minutes passed liek that? Larin adn the robot warrior locked in their position... just staring at each other. Larin didn't know. All he knew was taht he had to keep this up, atleast until he could come up witha way to kill a robot with his bare-hands. The sounds of screams echoed in his ears. Some had died but he dare dnot remove his eyes from his opponent. And likewise the warrior never flinched as it stared into Larin's eyes. It was such a soulless yet penetrating look. What was worse... Larin could slowly feel himself losing the little stale-mate he was keeping up.
Just when all seemed hopeless, he recieved a little blessing. The two remaining SOLDIERS apparently wnted revenge for their fallen comrades. They let loose a stream of bullets that actually seemed to do something. The robot reeled back and turned to face the newest threat to itself. Larin took the opening to deliver a sold kick to the robots unprotected side sending energy to his leg muscles to increase the damage. The robotic warrior was really hating his situation at this point. It retreated and took a more defencive stance. That would make things harder.
Then not only had it spoke, but it also demanded to see Rufus Shinra. Max's boss. Now why would it want to do that? It didn't really matter to Larin... or it shouldn't. But he was now very curious. However before he could say anything, Max was attacked by the 2nd robot and falling down a hill. Then he saw one of the young SOLDIERs run after the pair. That left Larin with one ally in this fight. He just had to keep that ally alive.
"Don't fire unless your shot is clear. Got that?" Larin told the his ally. The yound man simply nodded and began to aim. Then without a further word Larin charged in. He pushed off and ran forward. A sword rose to meet him. He knocked it aside with an arm adn launched a punch which was blocked by the other sword. And for several minutes an exchange of blows commenced, with the young SOLDIER aiming and waiting.

Finally. Blood was spilled. No... what was that? Oil? With a quick punch to the robot's side, some type of liquid seemed to squirt out for a split second. These things had weaknesses, and what a weakness it was. Located at each of their sides was an exposed section of their armored bodies. They guarded it well, hoever, for it took even Maxima and his great speed a while to even get remotely near it. Their defenses were sure to cause some troubles. Upon the completion of Maxima and the robot's decent down the hill, Maxima immeidiately continued with his savage attack, not letting his discovery of the weakness stray him from the task at hand, which was to silence these robots and somehow locate the person responsible for making them, that and ofcourse their original mission; locate the missing cargo. Something about all of this was messing with Maxima's head, he wasn't sure what was going on, but he knew now this was no simple recovery mission, it was a mission that would surely see blood and lives lost. Like the two that had already slipped away into the dark emptiness of the afterlife...
The robot too darted for Maxima, it's axes at the ready. With but a single swipe, the robot attempted to take out the legs of the First Class SOLDIER. However, he wasn't having it, having lept upward a bit and descended an axe of his own, an axe kick at that. It slammed hard against the top of the robot's head, not creating a single dent or crack. But the overall force of the kick was still great and as a result the robot's head, and entire upper body for that matter, was sent downward toward the ground, slamming hard and creating it's own little crater. Maxima, not letting any time go to waste, followed up with a concentrated blast of energy from his palms, launching it like a cannonball, it exploding like a mini-ultima spell on contact, causing Maxima to jump back a few feet. Having bought a few moments, Maxima leapt to the top of the hill, in which everyone else was, as well as the glistening lake. Larin had been doing battle with the other robot, exchanging blow after blow. How long could he keep this up? The robot was superir in every way, strength, stamina, and even it's structure was superior. He would have to change his game plan if he wanted to last in this battle, and Maxima would help him in doing so.
Looking to the side, Maxima seen that his two remaining men had been locked on target, waiting for a perfect time to fire. He opened his mouth, shouting orders, "Spread out, shoot near the thing, it you don't have to actually hit it, as long as it thinks you're trying to hit it, it'll defend or move away, and that'll give me a chance to destroy it! Now go!" without question, the two were off, listening to their commanding officer. With that, Maxima raced toward Larin and the robot's location, charging two individual orbs of energy within the palms of both his hands. Meanwhile, the two SOLDIERs had reached their destination, and fired wildly at the robot, and as Maxima said, it leap away from where the bullets were scattering. With not a single second wasted, Maxima let loose one of the energy balls, causing it to explode near the robot, which in turn caused it to be pushed back in the direction of Larin Shulta, who was sure to have an attack of his own ready for it....
Whatever Larin did, Maxima had his second ball of energy ready to follow it up...

Larin could feel his breathing becoming ragged. He was starting to get tired. He had ben exchanging blows with this things for several minutes. Both himself adn the robot had landed a few powerful blows. However niether one of them showed any damage on their armor. No there was very little outard or even internal damage. It was all energy and endurance. Both of which Larin was lacking in when compared to his opponent. Larin hadn't pulled out any of his real tricks yet... not that he saw any good oppurtunities to do so. ofcourse larin noticed that the robot seemed to favor it's left side. The same side that Larin landed a kick on. If he could only get past the robot's defences adn strike that area.
In the background, over the sound of metal hitting metal, he heard what sounded like orders followed by running feet. Was that gunfire he heard now? It didn't matter. Larin blocked a word blade that almost got past him and this time pushed against the sword causing the wielder to have to step back a little. A good hing too as a few seconds later an explosion took place right next to the metal warrior causin him to stumble toward Larin. He was completely open. Now was Larin's chance.
The iron gaurd slid back his left foot so tht he turned to the side. He then sent a large amount of energy to his left leg adn concetrated on that one area. "Iron rocket" he said under his breathe as he kicked out with his left foot in a round house fashion . It seemed he was still a few feet too far to actually hit. However his foot stirred the air causing it to shoot forward and strike the robot cleanly in it's already damaged side. It reeled with a strange unrecognisable curse. Oil... or whatever that stuff was, was starting to leak out... well maybe leak was an understatement. Flowed was more like it. It was only when this happen did Larin dare look out of the corner of his eye and saw Max with a glowling orb of energy. So thats what happened. Well then he would only hope the next ball would help just as much. He put down his leg and slowly put wieght on it. His enrgy was low and his body had taken some fatigue punishment. He ahd to finish this soon.

Larin seemed to be getting a handle on the situation now, having made a few successful hits on the strange robot. What was with these things, anyway? Maxima knew all about Shin-Ra's models, and their upcoming ones, too. These were nothing like them, so what were they, where did they come from...and why? Was there anotehr organization out there? Perhaps they belonged to the World Regenesis Organization... perhaps AVALANCHE.... who knew. But somebody was responsible for them, and whoever created them were very intelligent, and it showed through the robots appearance, actions, and their durability in their actions. They were so swift, so smooth, near perfection. If such a height were possible to reach, they would be. But as Maxima always thought, real men, real skill, real determination...always ruled over superior intellect. And so, Maxima's eyes flashed, seeing his chance....
That strange oil-like substance seemed to gush from within the robot with swords, having been hit hard by Larin. A hard hit, indeed. IMpressed was the First Class SOLDIER, however, he did not let that interfere with anything, and as a result of that, he made his attack, hoping to finish off the robot with one last attack. Tightening his grip on his ball of energy, Maxima took one last deep breath, his eyes locking on the single robot. "I'll be sure to send your parts to your master when I find him!" Maxima laughed, now launching the concentrated ball of raw power and energy, it traveling through the air at a rather intense speed, reaching the robot in a split second.
Colliding against it's chest region, it exploded on impact. The explosion was great, knocking everything in a twenty foot radius clear away, Maxima, too, was shot back, having been in mid-air when the explosion occurred. A fog of dust clouded a wide range of the area, Maxima climbed to his feet, still at the ready. He knew he hit the axe wielding robot hard earlier, directly in the head at close range, but somehow he knew that didn't stop it, only temporarily. So he was ready for anything it had to deliver... only the dust seemed to cloud even his own vision. He would have to rely on his highly trained senses... but even so, a perfect human still lacked in comparison to the likes of such superior robotics... and Maxima's senses were far from being perfect. That being said, Maxima became slightly nervous. He felt the intensity of a close ranged battle with the robots before, and it wasn't something any human wanted a part of, even him. It was foolish. However, his pride would not let him back away... so he didn't. Complying with his pride, Maxima took in a small amount of energy from around him and sent it out in the form of a wave, causing the dust to disrupt and be sent into the atmosphere above.
Suddenly--

Larin didn't know what was going on. Everything was becoming one large mess known as battle. Here nothing needed to mke sense. Whatever happened happened. That was all anyone needed to know. And at the moment all larin knew was that he was pitched into the air and landing hard on his back. Now that was a powerful explosion. But why did i ahve to be so stong. An what was with the fog that suddenly appeared. Larin sat up and slowly stood as the fog grew thick around him blocking all sight. He stopped hearing gunshots. That ment all fighting had cesed... atleast he hoped. If it was true then it was time to rest and think. The robots weren't invincible and go be hurt adn destroyed. That was proven. However they were still ough customers. Thye could take and give out savage beatings, they never got tired, and they didn't give up. They were the ultimate opponents. And ones you could not defeat while staying on the defensive. He ahd to attack adn attack hard. That wold prove a problem... after all he was still tired. And there was still a second robot out there.
Suddenly the fog cleared. Immediately larin went inot combat mode. His eyes gazing around the treesuntil he spotted the two soldiers. They were back to back adn had their guns at the ready looking for their target. larin started to look around them as well. Then he spotted it. He could barely make it out but he was sure he had it in his sights. And apparently it had the soldiers in its own sights; However, they didn't see it. he saw it leeap from its perch aiming to kill teh men. He couldn't allow that. He drew energy he had stored in his armor as well as whatever he had left in his tank to powr up his right arm. "NOO!" he shouted as launched a right straight punch in the robots direction. The resulting ari current shot forward likea torpedo. HE ahd aimedfor the robot's side. But he was tired still. Instead all he did was hit teh robot in the arm. This knocked it off balance causing it to miss the men. Whic was good. Larin fell to one knee. This was bad. He was running low on energy big time. He ahd only one choice... bu it was too soon. He could not use it yet. "You better get it Max. or I will be forced to haunt you out of principle when we die." He said with a dry humor even as his breathes came in pants. He needed to rest. that was all. Jut rest.

Seconds past and the fog was now clear. The robot Maxima had just attacked was nowhere to be seen, not it's pieces, not anything. Gone without a trace. It was clear though, to everybody, that it was hit and hit hard. The fog was caused by something in that robot's body. It wasn't mere dirt caused by the explosion, it was a thick, black fog... a smokescreen, if you will. It seemed to have some strange smell to it, too. Than it hit him. He could feel his very health, his energy... decrease, zapped away, absorbed... taken. His throat was scratchy and he started to cough a bit, it wasn't too bad, but it was enough to mess with him. He was poisoned. Such a weak poison, seeing how strong these robots were, you'd think it'd be a stronger poison. Negative aspects of everything must be weaker than the others, it was only relevant. However, as poisoned as he was, it meant nothing. A quick Poisona spell would fix him right up. Holding out a single arm, Maxima called forth the power of his Heal Materia, thus casting the spell knwon as Poisona. A green light seemed to envelope him in a soft light, radiated for only a few short moments. Immediately, Maxima's throat cleared up, the itchiness being replaced by a moist warmth the throat needed to do well. His breathing returned to normal, and he was ready to go once again. And they said White Magic was for pansies, ha! Maxima grinned, thinking back on his thoughts, only to dismiss those thoughts. Being distracted was the last thing he needed. Especially now.
Suddenly, an almost torpedo-like wave of energy seemed to shoot through the air, coming in contact with the robot from earlier, the axe wielding one. It had jumped at the two SOLDIER members, it's sharp axes wanting so desperately to make their way into the flesh of both the men. However, it seemed Larin had other plans, having delivered one of the most unique attacks upon the robot. The aiming job was bad, having only hit the arm. However it did take the robot to the ground and it did cause it to halt it's midair attack. Hitting the ground, the robot took to yet another stance, not wasting a single second, for each one was crucial. It lunged at Larin, who now seemed out of it, having fell to but a single knee.... panting.
The time was now. Attack, or watch Larin die right than and there. Maxima wasn't having it. He, too, lunged at Larin, being closer he naturally reached him first, pushing his body over and causing him to fall to the ground, it was better than a couple of axes meeting with his skull. Immediately, Maxima tapped into his Enemy Skill Materia, casting forth a great and powerful Flamethrower; close range. The robot was engulfed in flames in a matter of seconds, the flames spreading upon it like a wildfire. Buying some time, Maxima lept to the position of Larin, casting a very helpful spell on him. "Looks like you can cancel the haunting." and with a wink, Haste was cast upon Larin Shulta, increasing his speed and reaction time greatly. The spell didn't aid him in his healing, but it definately aided in that very quest. The speed granted Larin the ability to stay out of range, out of trouble.... until just the right time.

Larin felt he was doomed. He couldn't move. He was sut too tired. And the robot was a fast little bastard. Apparently it conisdered larin the largest threat at teh moment. Then again Larin would have too if he was on he recieving end of that that last attack. Well he only hoped any damage he did would help the others later. He closed his eyes and waited for the final pain of death. He then eard running feet adn felt a great force onto his side which knocked him flat. That couldn't be right. Why would the robot knock him over? Did it have some kind of sick sense of humor? Did robots even have a sense of humor?
He slowly opened his eyes in time to see Max unleash a geyeser of flames at the charging robot turning it into a walking torch. Max was practicly standing ontop of him. max must have pushed Larin out of the way. Just in time too. "I will. When that thing stops moving and we both walk away from this." He answered witha tired smile. He soon felt the effects of a haste spell. that could help. Larin began to stand and nodded his thanks as he got to his feet. He was sill tired as hell and still needed rest. However the spell would help him use les energy as he defended. Which was exctly what he planned to do.
Larin took several quick steps back, seperating himself from the combat. He then put his left leg back adn crossed both arms jst under his chin. A basic defense stance. It took the least energy and was th most versatile. Both of which could only help. Now he would wait for an opening. He only needed one. But until he got it... it was all up to Max, the 1st class SOLDIER. May that be enough to deal with this enemy.

Dancing among the flames, the robot made it's way toward the lake, in an attempt to extinguish itself. Maxima wasn't having it. "I don't think so, bud!" and with that, Maxima was on his way, toward the robot. Jumping into the air, the robot was seconds away from relief. The flames were incredible, no natural flame could be so strong. The tough cellular structure of the robot's bodies... it was unreal. However the Enemy Skill materia Maxima had in his possession was upon a level unlike any other. The flames he had inflicted upon the strange robotic man was more intense than the flames that spit from the underworld's most darkest and hottest of locations... the depths of North Cave itself. As a result, the robot's body was melting at an alarming rate... you could quite literally see what appeared to be globs of it fall off of it, only these globs were melted metal. When the robot jumped into the air, in an attempt to land in the lake... Maxima too had lept up, and both his hands would come together, clapping. And from within both his hands, energy would be released yet again in the form of Maxima's signature power beams, as caused by his Unique Power Blast Materia.
The beam was great, having been launched by two hands only made it even stronger. Rather than colliding agianst the robot and exploding on impact, the beam just went right through it's body, but at the same time, split it's body in four. The body of the robot had already been weakened... and the final attack only tipped the scale that much more. In a way, the robot got what it was after, the lake's cool refreshing waters.... however, it didn't reach that goal without sacrifice. Splashing upon the water's glimmering bosom, steam would emit anew from the heat of the rapidly cooling pieces of metal. Landind gracefully upon his feet, Maxima knew he had won. Immediately, however, the thought of the remaining robot lingered within the corridors of his mind, Where was it? A considerate amount of time had passed since his attack on the robot, and the attack was only meant to halt the robot's movements, of course if that attack was done on a human or a creature of flesh, it could have very well been a lethal attack. Considering the fact that the being he had attacked was a robot, told Maxima he would be back, and quickly at that. So where was it? Maxima couldn't help but worry now, he felt perhaps the robot had been hiding, among the trees of the Forgotten Capital. "Keep your eyes peeled! The other one is around here somewhere!" during all this, Maxima couldn't help but think about the true reason he was here. To retrieve the missing cargo. So where was it? If it was nearby, wouldn't the SOLDIER operatives be alerted of their presence during this battle? What was going on? What the hell was going on?

Larin watched the end of teh so called battle. In his eyes it was pretty much no contest. The robotic warrior was doomed as soon as the flames set it ablaze. It wasn't stupid though. It went straight for the lake. If it had reached it then things would have ended differently, maybe. However it didn't. Well it did but not in one piece. It would definitely not bother them again. Then ment aht both robots were taken care....of.......
Max's words struck Larin like a hammer onto an anvil. His eyes scanned teh battle field once more. Where was teh body fo the sword wielder? Even if the explosion destroyed it there would be parts layign around. But there were none. He felt his muscles tighten at the thought. It was indeed out there. And hurt as well. But why had it attacked them? Why did both robots appear out of the lake? Why did they want to see Rufus? What was their programming? Then one more question came to mind.
"Max!" he called, "Why were you sent out here?" His eyes scanned the trees as he called again, "Don't you think its wierd that these robots would appear in hiding in an area you and your men would just happen to be walking through?" Larin couldn't hold back the question. Something was fishy. What was happening? And how would they stop it?
